The Big Lemon has a number of vacancies for volunteers
We are looking for motivated and committed people with an interest in The Big Lemon and one day a week to spare. Volunteers will gain valuable experience in a dynamic working environment, and in return for their efforts we will provide them with unlimited tea and biscuits, a desk and computer to work with, all the training they need, and a reference afterwards which will be invaluable for future employment.
Media Officer
The Media Officer will be responsible for getting our message across to the media and maximising our exposure. Key tasks will be building relationships with journalists; keeping a press list up to date; writing press releases; keeping an archive of press material and keeping a weekly blog.
Members Officer
The Members Officer will be responsible for ensuring our members get the most out of their membership. Key tasks will be building relationships with local businesses where students go shopping, eating, drinking or clubbing and negotiating discounts for members; finding out what members think of their membership and how to improve the experience; keeping the members section of our website up to date and working with members to spread the word and expand the membership.
Community Liaison Officer
The Community Liaison Officer will be responsible for building relationships with the key communities along our route, the Universities of Brighton & Sussex and their respective students' unions, the area's schools and colleges, community organisations and residents' groups. Key tasks will be establishing and developing relationships and maintaining an up-to-date list of key organisations and contacts; working with groups to find our how we can better serve them; organising activities, talks and stalls to promote awareness of our service and managing our new Giving Something Back program, where we give half the first day's cash takings of every month to a local good cause.
Advertising Manager
The Advertising Manager will be responsible for developing our advertising business. We have space available on the buses for advertising and the key tasks of the role will to research the market; write a business plan; develop a strategy; approach potential advertisers; manage the customers' accounts and develop new opportunities for revenue generation from advertising.
Finance Officer
The Finance Officer will be responsible for keeping the Company's accounts and providing monthly management accounts. For this role it is essential that candidates have experience of book-keeping or accounting.
