This is an example network of the kind we would love to be able to provide in the future.
We think that people will only be pursuaded to embrace public transport if it is comprehensive and if the different routes complement each other. A perfect example of this working in practice is the London Underground. It is easy to see how to get from one place to an other, and when switching between different lines one does not have to wait long for a connecting service.
In the example below, the routes are designed to give more frequent services on the busier corridors while serving many smaller towns and villages at the same time. Timetables would have to be designed to fit well together, and also coordinate times with the rail network.
