Brighton NetworkWhilst Brighton & Hove has a comprehensive bus network which is the envy of the rest of the country, the network is effectively run as a monopoly by one operator. This has the advantage of giving significant economies of scale, but the disadvantage is that without the competition there is little incentive to keep prices low. What we would like to see is the peaceful co-existence of two (or more!) operators in Brighton & Hove who compete with each other to keep standards up and prices down, yet both (or all) issue and accept the same City-wide Saver ticket to give passengers the benefit of being able to use the whole network regardless of the operator. The route map below is an example of the kind of thing we would like to operate in Brighton & Hove and the surrounding area. The problem with buses in Brighton & Hove is that they are slow and they stop every couple of hundred yards. As well as the price, we think this puts a lot of people off, and one way to win over these people is to provide an extra layer of fast, limited stop services. Below is an example of the kind of network we have in mind.
